School Sports Partnerships (SSPs)

School Sports Partnerships are clusters of secondary schools and their feeder primary schools, working together to raise standards in PE and school sport. Each School Sport Partnership has a Partnership Development Manager, and each secondary school is allocated a School Sport Co-ordinator. In turn, each primary school in the cluster has a Primary Link Teacher. The School Sports Partnership provides a hub for strategic planning and the delivery of sport within local schools, and also works with the local community and clubs to ensure that young people have the means to access life long participation beyond the school environment.

Partnership Development Manager: Manages the partnership full time and is based in the sports college of the partnership.

School Sport Co-ordinator: a teacher based in a secondary school who is released from timetable two days per week to work on the project. They work with their own school and their cluster of feeder primary schools.

Primary Link Teacher: A primary school teacher who is released 12 days per year to work on the project Some school sports partnerships also have a Competition Manager, who organises and oversees a range of high quality sporting competitions within the partnership.
