Women and Work
The Women and Work programme being piloted by
SkillsActive in the Yorkshire and Humber region - offers funding for training
to help women progress within occupations where they are significantly
under-represented and where specific skills shortages exist.
Under the Women and Work Sector Pathways
Initiative, SkillsActive have developed this training opportunity in response
to the need to increase the number of qualified technical officials in the
Yorkshire and Humber region as well as support the development of key skills
such as team working and communication amongst those working in the active
leisure and learning sector.
Our training programme offers a range of training
that will support the long term development of women in the workplace. The
programme will deliver:
- Assessment of literacy and numeracy.
- Technical officiating qualification in either football or cricket (level 2
qualification mapped to national occupational standards).
- Team working and communications training workshop.
- Introduction to the activepassport – helping the employer and the individual
to track training and skills as well as identify areas for future development.
The total training pack is valued at £600, but is
available to employers for just £198. In addition, the scheme will cover upto*
100% of childcare costs incurred by the learner and 66% of all travel costs
incurred.
Who is eligible for the scheme?
There are only 35-40 places available on this scheme, therefore places will be
allocated on a first come, first serve basis. The only requirements of
the scheme are:
- Learners must be female and working in the
active leisure and learning sector.
- The employer must be willing to pay for the direct training cost and be reimbursed
for 66% of the cost once the learner has completed all elements of the scheme
(including delivery of officiating hours).
- The employer must be willing to cover 33% of the travel costs incurred by the
learner (66% can be claimed back from SkillsActive).
What are the key benefits?
SUPPORT – Financial support to obtain new and recognised qualifications (level
2 technical officiating)
ACCESS – To training to address key skills needs
identified by the active leisure and learning sector
ADVANTAGE – Competitive advantage for you and
your employee in offering quality services
