Go Play Rugby is an ambitious recruitment campaign to bring back 6000 players to the adult game. It targets former players and aims to remind them of what they are missing. The campaign will use the interest generated by the Rugby World Cup to maximise the effect of the recruitment activities of local Rugby Clubs. Throughout the season over 700 rugby clubs and 130 universities and colleges will be running special tournaments, festivals and events to get people back and involved in the game again, from touch, tag, beach and 7s rugby to full contact 15 a side. The RFU Rugby Development Officer, supported by Community Rugby Coaches and the local clubs, delivers a range of rugby coaching sessions in schools in South Yorkshire. These aim to give children a quality introduction to Rugby Union, and provides them with pathways into their local clubs.
